How much "riding" and dying" is necessary?

I'm sure ya'll all know by now about the situation with T.I. and Tiny. Yeah, we know they're dumb, but that's not what this post is about lol. When I was doing some reading on blogs and forums, I came across posts/discussions about what we {as women} would have done in this type of situation. In one blog post I read, the author said she is a ride or die chick so she would take the charges like Tiny probably will since T.I. will may serve time.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm all for being there for your man in hard times {as long as he's a great man- but that's a whole other post}. When Chris was out of work, I supported him; not so much financially, but I was there for him emotionally, I encouraged him, and I helped him look for a job, but I think there's a line, at least for me. And that line is pretty much anything illegal; I just can't get with that. I seriously, seriously doubt that Chris would do anything illegal, but if he did, I can't see myself being his 'ride or die' in that type of situation. I love him to pieces, but I love myself more than that.

I thought I was a ride or die chick because I don't run at the first sign of trouble, I don't insult or degrade him {even if he does something crazy}, and I stick by him in the rough times. But I guess people have different definitions of what that means. So I want to know:

What is your definition of 'ride or die'? Are you a ride or die chick? How far is too far, or is there no limit?

Great post Jamie and I love this blog site! Congratulations to you and your "boo."

But I had to respond!!! (smile)
I blogged about this incident and felt like she needed to be a ride or die chick. In my experience, (being with my husband for eight years and married for about three years-which isn't long at all) I believe couples don't really understand the terms of "until death do us part," Many do NOT know what it entails.

I am a cleansed-mature adult and the things that my husband and I used to do, I would never get CAUGHT doing now. However, I have been in a situation, like this couple, but didn't get caught-->and I am not a celebrity. My husband and I used to smoke weed and sometimes it would be riding in the car {young and sooo dumb}! My husband does not have a clean record. If we were to get caught, to prevent him from even dealing with even more legalities, I would have probably taken the charge. {Back then}.

TI and Tiny still engage in casual drug activity. So to me, the most sense out of this silly situation, that they have gotten themselves into, is for her to take the charge. And that would definitely be considered a "ride or die" chick move. Some women would never even deal with guys who are into illegal activity. So they probably would never find themselves in certain situations. And I think that is where the gray area lies.

When you are in a convenant relationship with someone, or when you take vows, you have to know that it is a vow to do and be whatever to each other until death takes one of you. You are now one. And of course I love me with all my heart and with all my soul, just as I love God; but that is the same way I love my husband. And this post is only for married folks...not people dating or in long term relationships because there is a BIG difference!

So lets say he gets into some trouble (silly or not) I would be there for him because that is my place.

To finally answer the question; A ride or die chick is a woman who honors her vows. It's just a modern terminology younger people use to describe the love for their man. I AM a ride or chick because as a wife and mother, I will do whatever I can to keep my family together. To me there is no limit in being one (there is no more me and him..it's us). You don't have to do anything illegal to support your husband when he is going through something (legal or illegal).

Its not like Tiny and TI haven't been in trouble together before. So people responding by saying she should be a ride or die chick by taking the charges would be the most logical thing to do (for their situation) because of everything that TI could lose and to keep her family together.

first off, great question and post, in light of the recent events surrounding T.I. and his wife. until shown otherwise, i believe that Tiny is committed to being a ride or die, til death do us part friend/lover/wife to T.I. and apparently her unquestionable decision is regardless of his 'questionable decisions.' as a man, i love a woman who understands and breathes the Bonnie & Clyde mentality. with myself, it hardly means that she and i are planning bank robberies or shootouts against the police cause those aren't wise decisions, at all. what it means - and Jay Z said it best in the song 'O3 Bonnie & Clyde: "i will do anything that's necessary for her, so don't let the necessary occur."

Breaking the law or taking culpability for my mates' crimes is way beyond my idea of ride or die. Ride or die to me is being there through hard times and being a rock when their strength may falter. Picking up the slack if you will.
